About our work
Make the Road New York is a membership-based organization with over 28,000 immigrant and working class members. We have been providing survival services and organizing for transformative, structural change for over 25 years. Today, we are facing threats of mass deportation, limitations on asylum, the revocation of protected legal status for Haitians and Venezuelans, and even threats to automatic citizenship for children born to immigrants. It's up to us to protect our futures - New York has a critical role to play in setting the tone for the next four years by fighting for immigrant and working-class people. We will face whatever challenges come our way with clarity and dignity.
Over the next 90 days, we are preparing our communities through processing immigration relief applications, developing neighborhood defense committees, planning litigation for city and state protection, and offering Know Your Rights trainings and deportation defense resources.
